Founded in 2021 by Darryle Buchanan, Transition Academies LLC draws on his more than 40 years of experience as a coach, educator, and policymaker to help students achieve academic excellence. The organization believes that the same principles that drive athletic success—discipline, effort, and resilience—can also foster academic and personal growth.

By highlighting the similarities between athletics and academics, Transition Academies teaches students that persistence, practice, and accountability are essential life skills. The organization creates pathways that help students not only improve their reading, math, and critical thinking skills but also build the confidence to succeed in various environments.

At the core of Transition Academies’ approach is the coach-student relationship, redefined as a mentor-learner partnership.
