Transition Academies LLC

Transition Academies LLC is a Detroit-based education and workforce development organization creating community-accessible pathways to allied health credentials, college, and living-wage careers.

Founded in 2021 by Darryle J. Buchanan, M.Ed., the organization draws on more than 40 years of experience in coaching, education, mentorship, and public policy. Transition Academies began with youth development rooted in discipline, effort, teamwork, and resilience. Today, that experience informs a broader career-focused model connecting participants to practical workforce pathways.

Our mission is to expand community access to career-connected education, recognized skills, college-aligned pathways, and living-wage opportunities in allied health.

Our Approach

We bring workforce development into trusted community settings; create flexible Saturday-only, after-school, and year-round entry points; connect participants to credentials, college pathways, and employers; advance health equity through education and economic opportunity; and keep community voice and benefit at the center of program design.
